Elvis plays Chad Gates, a carefree ex-G.I. who returns to Hawaii and trades the corporate ladder for an aloha shirt and a job as a tour guide — much to his mother’s dismay (played by Angela Lansbury). The music captures that same spirit: warm, romantic, and utterly irresistible.
