These are both fun shows from Elvis’ best tour of 1974, which is why we’ve seen three (?) official releases from this run through the South. The sound quality is good and Elvis is in a jovial mood but as always it’s regrettable that he didn’t vary his setlist more especially considering he was playing two shows in the same city!

We live in southeast Nashville, pretty close to Murfreesboro, and are very familiar with MTSU. I knew my son (an Elvis fanatic since he was a toddler) would find it cool that we had a concert CD that was made "locally." Since each disc is a separate show with, largely, matching set lists, it is cool to try to spot the differences in how certain songs were performed. With every moment, though, Elvis does not fail to amaze and entertain. Can't beat his stage shows of the 70s. Long live the King!

These two Murfreesboro shows are a terrific addition to the serious fan's collection. Both performances showcase an energized, engaged and excited Elvis. The 1974 touring schedule is a mix of Elvis at his best and some of his less than stellar outings. Too be sure, these two shows leading up to his Memphis concerts are among the best of that year. The audio from the soundboard is great for both shows.

I live just a short distance from Murfreesboro and have heard for years that all the shows at MTSU were recorded. I bought the 1975 show (Dixieland Rocks) and it has remained one of my favorite concerts of that era. I enjoyed the Murfreesboro '74 discs, but these shows seemed to serve as more of a dress rehearsal for Elvis' Memphis show that was recorded live on March 20, 1974, for release as a live album. He is a little more loose here, it seems, than on the Memphis album, but the content is basically the same. Great, rare '74 version of Johnny B. Goode on Disc 1! The sound quality and mix for a soundboard is great. While rather repetitive of the Memphis show, still a great set to have if you love Elvis concerts, particularly for someone like me who never saw Elvis live.
