simply the best elvis concert ever. elvis sounds more relaxed and full of energy at mid south. wish rca had the brains to release this concert as is rather then pulling songs out of it back in the day. the full concert shows elvis’ full range of music with high energy and a peppy crowd. art work inside is full of awesome concert pics. a must have for your collection

What can I say about this that hasn't been said before? Yes, this is a terrific show, and even better it was recorded with an RCA release in mind, but it was shortened because much of Elvis' live material here was also on the Madison Square and Aloha from Hawaii releases. But these performances are just as great as those, and some have an even heightened emotional feel to them likely due to the fact that the King was on his home turf, Memphis, Tennessee. The booklet is great, with concert photos and background material to set this performance in context, and the audio was remixed and remastered for greater fidelity. What this means is that audio edits contained in the original Live from Graceland have been restored, and in certain cases the songs are not the same versions as those on the original, as well as those songs not released previously. The 1974 lp only contained 14 songs, and this one 24 for a total of 10 previously unreleased performances. BUY THIS!

This is the BEST show Elvis ever gave, and more than 100 microphones were placed OUTSIDE .."and" inside the Midsouth Coliseum , Memphis, Tennessee. We now, finally, get all the songs left off the original 1974 album, and remastered to the greatest sound I have ever heard from ANY Elvis concert, and I have over a great deal of them. It is beautifully packaged in the 7 Inch gatefold digipack. a Booklet about the show, and never before seen photos from the ACTUAL performance are included.TWO,Soundboards, at $100,000 each, brand new, state-of-the-art, for 1974 are used, one IN the audience and one on stage. This FTD concert is a MUST HAVE, as I belive Elvis was in super fine, condition...even better than the "Aloha show". His voice is Very clear, and he makes no mistakes. Taken from the booklet>" Elvis said"Man,I'm ready and prepared for the recording session. I was a little worried for the first show last Saturday, but the audience knocked me out. They were great and I appreciate it!" This was Elvis's FIFTH sell out at the Midsouth Coliseum" Four shows were sold out there in hours, so Elvis added a fifth one, and wanted it to be recorded for his fans in his hometown. Elvis says"I wanted to record a live session in my hometown of Memphis, after all this is where it all started out for me" A super, knock out show!!! The sound will blow your mind! TCB, Take care everyone, WadeElvisMan

Truly one of the highlights in his concert career, Elvis makes a ROYAL return to Memphis. Too bad that RCA didn't release this in FULL - length back in the summer of ' 74. I think in a way, we got "cheated". Can you imagine RCA putting out only 1/2 of the ALOHA FROM HAWAII? Thanks FTD for this one! It is well overdue!

First let me point out the fantastic packaging on this release which is bigger than a normal-sized CD package. The accompanying booklet is also the same larger size, featuring several colorful and amazingly detailed pages. When I opened the mailbox and found this beautiful package inside, I had the same thrill as when I first bought the vinyl album back in the 1970s. The FTD packaging is even better because of the booklet, which was not included with the original vinyl album. Now to the contents of the CD. Here you have all the songs on the original album PLUS the rest of the songs from this amazing hometown show. And the sound on this FTD release is remastered to the absolute top standard of new millennium quality. It is light years ahead of the sound on the original vinyl album. This FTD CD is truly a sparkling, loving restoration. Put on headphones and you will be transported to Memphis for one of the finest shows of Elvis' later live career. Huge thanks to FTD for producing this heartfelt tribute to an album that was overlooked and rushed to market in the 70s. FTD has corrected the previous injustice by putting lots of time, care and professionalism into this beautiful expanded edition. This is the treatment the King deserves. Elvis lives on in this stunning remaster from FTD!

I never thought I'd say this, but this concert beats the Hawaii concert. It sounded so good, I loved his version of Let Me Be There and Polk Salad Annie was awsome, high voice was at its best that night.

This maybe just my opinion but this is by far the greatest concert on disc. The songs are not only inergetic but the band is tight. Elvis is in great form here, better than anything from previous live recordings. And this is 1974! Reading the linear notes will tell you that very sophistcated equipment of that time was used, including using an array of microphones. Let me tell you it paid off. I had the original (edited) LP and it compares nothing to what FTD did with bringing the sound out of this, beautiful!!! Buy this and listen how clear. No exaggeration at all here. The only recording that sounds as clear as this one is a special version of the Alternate Aloha concert done some years ago before FTD came into being. Buy this and you won't be sorry or buy it for a friend who is a so-so Elvis fan. They won't be disapointed...PROMISE!

I have but only 1 question about this album: WHY IN THE HELL WASN'T IT RELEASED LIKE THIS IN 1974 ? WHY DID WE HAVE TO WAIT ALL THESE YEARS FOR IT TO COME OUT IN FULL-LENGTH ?....ok, that's 2 questions, sorry! I don't understand why this didn't get released like this @ the time of it's original release!!! Even though I'm NOT a big fan of the March '74 tour, to me, this particular concert ranks up there w/ MADISON SQ. GARDEN, & ALOHA FROM HAWAII in terms of that it was a BIG deal for Elvis to play in his hometown!!! I do believe that a Vol . 2 could benefit from this Memphis '74 show by FTD or somebody to legally release the other 2 Memphis shows: June 10, 1975 & July 5, 1976...Hmmmmm, lots of possibilities for sales, FTD ?
