First of all it is important to know that the 200 page book is a biography of Bruce Jackson, and not Elvis. It is told mostly through the words his brother, his ex-wife, and the letters and recordings that Bruce made during the time he was with Elvis. But he only starts talking about Elvis at around page 100. However, I found the book very interesting. It is unfortunate that Bruce did not get around to writing a book about his life. Having worked with such artists as Blood, Sweat and Tears, The Jackson Five, Black Sabbath, Smokey Robinson, Rod Stewart, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash and others, he must have had loads of interesting stories to tell. CD 1 is an audio documentary disc hosted by Jack Mullins. It follows the year 1976 in chronological order featuring all tours and casino stops. Inserted are studio songs and live tracks in good sound quality. All taken from former FTD releases which are named at the end of the disc.It has Bruce telling interesting stories, many featured in the book, but it’s nice to hear it from his own voice. Very well done. CD 2 is the Sioux Falls concert from Oct 18, 1976 in very good sound. It’s one of his best shows from 1976. CD 3 is the Atlanta concert from Dec 30, 1976. The sound is OK, better than the well known audience recording available, but not as good as the October 18th. But the show is outstanding. If you can afford it, I recommend adding this set to your FTD collection.
