Las Vegas was a special place for Elvis. In 1969, his first season there, he fully reinvented himself and played 57 consecutive sold-out shows breaking all attendance records. Elvis returned to Las Vegas every year until 1976. After his death, a bronze statue of him was placed in the lobby of the Las Vegas Hilton, commemorating his 837 sold-out shows played for 2.5 million people. From 1969 until 1976, Elvis was the No. 1 attraction in the world’s No. 1 resort.
