Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden CD
[+] enlarge image

  • Elvis performs four sold out shows on June 9, 10 & 11, 1972 at Madison Square Garden – the first artist to sell out 4 consecutive MSG shows!
  • RCA recorded both June 10th shows in preparation for releasing a live album just eight days after Elvis departs New York. The album was eventually drawn from his 8:30 p.m. performance and was titled "Elvis As Recorded Live at Madison Square Garden"
  • Elvis' engagement at MSG marked the first time Elvis performed in front of a live audience in New York since appearances in 1956 and 1957 on the Dorsey Brothers, Steven Allen and Ed Sullivan shows.
  • The MSG box office success from Elvis' appearance is further proof that the public had long awaited his return to New York - a fourth show was added on Sunday, June 11, due to the first three shows instantly selling out.
  • John Lennon, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were all in attendance.
  • "Like A Prince From Another Planet" was an NY Times headline following the show

On Jan 12, a full dress rehearsal took place prior to the main show. Previously issued as "The Alternate Aloha", this dress rehearsal performance makes up the first 21 tracks of Disc 2 of this Legacy Edition, which has been REMIXED and REMASTERED by Steve Rosenthal and Rob Santos. At the end of the main show on Jan 14, Elvis recorded 5 bonus songs behind closed doors for the US version of the TV show (tracks 25 to 29 Disc 2). Elvis At Stax Deluxe Edition CD
1973 was a crucial year in the career of Elvis Presley. Riding high on the success of Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii via Satellite, Elvis decided that his next recording project would be on his home turf - at the red-hot STAX, the launching pad of such greats as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave and Isaac Hayes. He assembled the very best musicians in town - members of The MGs, The Memphis Boys, and his own TCB band to create the ultimate band and he searched for fresh new material that would reflect his new path. Such songs as "I Got A Feelin' In My Body" and "Loving Arms" demonstrate an artist looking to broaden his palette and his reach. The STAX material, an amazing chapter of Elvis' career, has never been positioned as a whole body of work... Until now. PACKAGING: -3 CD Oversized Slipcase (like prints from another planet) -Included remastered audio and many newly remixed outtakes! -40 page book featuring insightful essay by Memphis historian Robert Gordon -Includes RARE photos, clippings, and memorabilia

Elvis Presley: 3000 South Paradise Road FTD CD
This 7" 2-disc release with a 16-page booklet takes a closer look at Elvis' engagement at the Las Vegas Hilton in August, 1972. The first disc is a soundboard recording from the dinner show on August 12, while the second disc features rehearsals from August 4th, 6 hours before the opening night of the engagement. The audio on disc 2 was recorded on a personal tape recorder so the sound quality is below standard, but historical significance more than compensates for its quality. As with "48 HOURS TO MEMPHIS", this release has been prepared by Robert Frieser and Hans Slebos, who once again has done a fabulous job of collecting information and materials for the project. There will be additional information in the next few weeks. "3000 South Paradise Road" provides a unique experience of Elvis rehearsing, 6 hours before the opening night at the Las Vegas Hilton on August 4, 1972. As disc 2 is captured on a personal tape recorder, the sonic quality is below standards, but historical significance more than compensates for its audio limitations. Disc 1 is a soundboard recording.
