Hi all Elvis fans! This collection looks to be a fantastic one from the 1971 sessions which are my favorite of the 1970's Elvis recording sessions! However, there are 2 songs I feel that are left off of this cd that should have been put on here. T ... more >

The new 5" digi pack release, FROM HAWAII TO LAS VEGAS , is a cassette recording of Elvis' January 25 dress rehearsal for his January/February 1973 season at The Las Vegas Hilton. The rough audio quality is more than compensated by the fascinating insight into how Elvis worked in order to create his shows. With little talk, and a lot of music, we are invited to a first row presentation of what he had in mind, and yet he decided to change the repertoire the next day. Among the many songs is "Separate Ways" – rehearsed with and without the orchestra - a song that Elvis chose to never perform in public.

Elvis Presley: Another Saturday Night FTD CD
If one place is to be picked as the most important in the career of Elvis, it is without doubt Shreveport in the northwest part of Louisiana. The exposure that Elvis got through the radio broadcast of The Louisiana Hayride in 1954-56 was one of the key factors of establishing the early part of his career. With the exception of Las Vegas, there is no place where Elvis played more shows, and his return to the city in 1975 was like a homecoming to both Elvis and the many fans he had there since he started out. We have chosen to release the soundboard from the evening show of June 7 – definitely a show that Elvis and the audience truly enjoy, and with a great set list featuring old and new favourites. The CD comes in a 5" digipack with an eight-page booklet featuring photos from the June 1975 tour.

This 5” digipack release covers Elvis’ engagement at The Las Vegas Hilton in January-February, 1972. RCA did not record entire shows, and several of the new songs Elvis had added to his shows were only recorded once. The consequence is that the main body of the CD – the RCA recordings – feature several previously released versions. Soundboard (informal) recordings of other song performances during the engagement were added to the end of the disc in order to make this as representative as possible of Elvis’ repertoire at that time. Recorded on a 4-track machine, the sound is definitely superior to the usual soundboard standard, and Elvis' performance is much better than the general expectations.
