The album was eventually drawn from his 8:30 p.m. performance and was titled "Elvis As Recorded Live at Madison Square Garden" Elvis' engagement at MSG marked the first time Elvis performed in front of a live audience in New York since appearances in 1956 and 1957 on the Dorsey Brothers, Steven Allen and Ed Sullivan shows. Elvis: Ed Sullivan Show: Performances DVD
Share the excitement of Elvis Presley's earth-shattering introduction to the nation in this collection of iconic performances from The Ed Sullivan Show and experience for yourself why Elvis became the legendary King of Rock and Roll! Appearing on the show Sept. 9, 1956, Elvis sent shock waves through a repressed nation with his soulful singing, wild hip gyrations and raw energy, attracting a record-breaking TV audience of more than 60 million people. Presley returned on Oct. 28, 1956, continuing to provoke ecstatic screams with hits such as "Don't Be Cruel," "Love Me Tender" and "Hound Dog." In fact, these exhilarating performances were so explosive that Elvis was filmed above the waist during his final Sullivan show appearance on January 6, 1957!

Elvis Country Legacy Edition 2-CD Set
Elvis Country, originally released in January 1971, received critical acclaim upon release. In a review for Rolling Stone, historian Peter Guralnick said; "... Elvis Presley has come out with a record which gives us some of the very finest and most affecting music since he first recorded for Sun almost 17 years ago." But it's the singing, the passion and engagement most of all which mark this album as something truly exceptional. All the familiar virtues are there. The intensity. That peculiar combination of hypertension and soul. There is even a frenzied recollection of what the rock era once was, as Elvis takes on Jerry Lee Lewis' masterful "Whole Lotta Shakin'" and comes out relatively unscathed. In short - he has never sung better. This Legacy Edition of Elvis Country is coupled with Elvis' follow-up studio album from June 1971, Love Letters From Elvis which contains songs recorded at the Elvis Country sessions including; "The Sound Of Your Cry" and "Life" (Billboard #53).
